Genmaicha
This is an everyday variety of tea in Japan and like all Japanese teas has a high mineral content. Genmaicha is made from bancha green tea and popped, roasted rice. It is soothing and mellow; the popped rice adds a wonderful balance of roasty aroma to the refreshing green tea. The roasted rice has a tendency to 'pop' in transit resembling small popcorn pieces, which is why Genmaicha is often referred to as Popcorn Tea.
